3G in India: Video Calling at 30 paise per minute
State run BSNL will be the first to introduce 3G services. BSNL will introduce video calling at 30 paise per minute for local calls and 50 paise per minute for STD video calls, making it as cheap as the present pricing existing in the market.
The 3G service of BSNL launched in Chennai, this Friday will now be available in both post-paid and prepaid connections. 3G will also introduce other facilities in India like mobile live TV, high speed internet with download speed up to 3.6 mb ps. People will also be able to watch 24 television channels at present. BSNL will also be adding video on demand and video streaming shortly.
With BSNL getting the first mover advantage in 3G Market in India, with a very low pricing, it has set the stage for competitive pricing in 3G. A.Subramaniam, chief general manager of BSNL said, “we expect one lakh customers to subscribe to our 3G service in a month and a half”
