All the Best Movie Review: Solid Fun-ride!

all-the-best
All The Best is the perfect Diwali gift, a fun ride in every sense of the word. It is the best example of clean, slapstick comedy in recent times. Director Rohit Shetty and producer Ajay Devgan hit it very well, this time too, with an ensemble cast, funny sidekicks, comedy of errors and the cleverly picturised songs.

Story: As expected, like the previous genre of successful comedy of errors movies like New Entry, Golmaal Returns or even Hera Pheri, All the Best is all about one person getting it all wrong. Veer(Fardeen Khan) is a struggling musician earning off the lavish pocket money sent by his rich step brother Dharam(Sanjay Dutt). Veer lies to his brother that he has married his girlfriend Vidya, which delights Dharam, who sends him double the money, so that the couple can live happily.

Veer and his friend Prem(Ajay Devgan) dream of fast money, especially Ajay whose wife Jhanvi(Bipasha Basu) runs a second-hand gym that is left behind by Prem’s father. Trouble crops up when Dharam pays Veer a visit and mistakes Jhanvi to be Veer’s wife and Vidya to be Prem’s love. There are many funny scenes especially between Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt. Add to this are sub plots of a gangster called Tobu(Johnny Lever) who uses a glass to communicate with people, to whom Veer and Prem owe money. There is also a man called RGV Sanjay Mishra), who’s been given Dharam’s bungalow on rent in his absence. The gags and funny situations arise out of mistaken identities and perceptions of Dharam.

Plus points of All the Best: The witty dialogues of All the Best is its USP. After a long time, we are watching such quick-fire wit and play of words courtesy writers Sajid-Farhad and Bunty Rathore. Some of the funniest lines include : Phd: Phata Hua Dhol, MBA: Maha Bekaar Aadmi, and Sanjay Dutt’s killer line “Comedy toh ab shuri ki, action toh 30 saal se kar raha hoon” There are funny characterizations to people like Johnny Lever, who speaks by tinkling a glass with a spoon, Sanjay Mishra who speaks Pran style, while the maid Ashwini Kalsekar speaks in a mall twang. Also it is refreshing and pleasing to see producer Ajay Devgan who has looked his best in this film, giving the meatier role to Sanjay Dutt, who relishes it with elan. Above all, full credit to director Rohit Shetty, who is getting better with every film. This man has certainly mastered the art of clean, wholesome but slapstick entertainers, which is not an easy job to do.

Performances: Sanjay Dutt is bang on as the role of a businessman who is at the wrong side of judgement. Bipasha Basu looks hot and acts her part well. Mughda Godse is reduced to an embellishment but people like Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra raise the bar of the film. The best thing about All the Best is Ajay Devgan, who has performed brilliantly in this comic caper. Plus he looks super fit and has muscles to boot. Dunno why Ajay Devgan didn’t chose to market his beefy look in various promos of All the Best

Last few lines about All the Best: All the Best is sure to grab all the best share of eyeballs with the kind of stuff it has. Surely, a recommended watch for this festive season.
