Haiti Earthquake Video – Haiti’s Worst Earthquake in 200 Years.

On Tuesday at 4:53pm, Haiti experienced the worst earthquake ever in more than 200 years. The earthquake was so severe that it collapsed a hospital and heavily damaged the National Palace, UN peacekeeper headquarters and other buildings.

Disruption of the communications due to earthquake made it impossible to get a clear picture of damage as powerful aftershocks shook a desperately poor country where many buildings are flimsy. In some places of Haiti, there was no electricity. The poverty stricken nation has a population of 9 million people and are desperately poor, and after struggling for political instability for many years, it has no real construction standards

Karel Zelenka, a Catholic Relief Services representative said `They reported structures down. They reported a lot of walls down. They did see a number of bodies in the street and on the sidewalk that had been hit by debris. So clearly, there’s going to be serious loss of life in this,” Felix Augustin, Haiti’s consul general in New York, said “Buildings collapsed all over the place,” he said. “We have lives that are destroyed. … It will take at least two or three days for people to know what’s going on.”

According to US Geological Survey, the magnitude of earthquake was recorded at 7.0 on the Richter scale and was centered about 15 kilometers towards the west of Port-au-Prince. The earthquake was reported to be the strongest ever since 1770 by USGS geophysicist Kristin Marano in Haiti. In the year 1946, a magnitude-8.1 quake had shook the Dominican Republic and Haiti and killed 1,790 people.

Google Chrome OS Will Be Launched This Week

Everyone is waiting for the launch of the Google Chrome OS. The latest buzz on the internet is that the Chrome OS will be available for download by next week. Here goes the rumor, an early version of Google Chrome is expected to hit the internet in this coming week.

It is also believed that the early version will be without hardware driver support; hence it is also believed that Chrome OS will only work on a few computers initially like the Asus Eee PC and partner computer systems like Acer, Toshiba, and HP.

As promised by Google, they may surely launch an open source code of Google Chrome OS only for developers. This also means that an average person may not be able to download the OS and use it. Developers will require a compiler to make this open source code version of Chrome OS to boot up their systems.

Google may also go ahead and release a version that can be downloaded by anyone. All we can do is wait and watch as to what unfolds at Google this week.

Brawn’s Jensen Button Is The Winner of Bahrain Grand Prix

Brawn’s Jensen Button is the winner of the Bahrain Grand Prix 2009. Button clinched the third win out of four F1 Championship races this season winning at Australia, Malaysia and now at Bahrain. His score is 31 points.

The race started with Toyota’s Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock standing at first and second at the start of the race. Even though Trulli expected to lead the race but within few minutes he was overtaken by his team-mate Timo Glock. Button had already mentioned that Trulli and Glock were running lighter on fuel and they would be soon into the pits. His tactical analysis was right. Trulli lost his position because of the pits. Sebastin Vettel was then 2nd and continued to be at that position till the end of the race. Trulli gave a tough fight till the end to Vettel.

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton came fourth and the other driver from Brawn Gp, Rubens Barrichello came fifth. Ferrari was able to salvage their points of the season with Kimi Rakkonen clinching the sixth position closely followed by Toyota’s Timo Glock. Fernando Alonso completed the race at eighth position.

It has not been a good season for Ferrar. Yet again Felipe Massa had a forgettable race as he had to pit early to check the damage down due to first-corner traffic in the beginning of the race. He finished 14th. The other driver who had a terrible race was McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen due to the disasterous start of the race. Force India’s, Giancarlo Fisichella finished fifteenth closely followed by his team-mate Adrian Sutil.

Bahrain Grand Prix: Toyota’s Trulli and Glock to Start at Front Row

Jarno Trulli will be seen with his Toyota team-mate, Timo Glock at the front row of the Bahrain Grand Prix 2009 at Sakhir. Jarno Trulli clocked 1:33.431 and Timo Glock clocked at 1:33.712 on Saturday morning’s final practice sessions. Since Indianapolis grand prix 2005, it was the first pole for Trulli.

China Grand Prix 2009 winner, Sebastian Vettel was 3rdbest with his Red-bull Renualt clocking 1:34.015. The Brawn-Mercedes driver, Jenson Button clocked 1:34.044 and will start at 4thposition and his team-mate Rubens Barrichello clocked start at 6th. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton will start at 5thand hist team-mate Heikki Kovalainen will start 11th. Even though the Ferrari of Felipe Massa has been giving trouble since the start of the season, he managed to land up his Ferrari at 8th whereas Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen will start at 10th. Williams-Toyota driver, Nico Rosberg will start at 9th in tomorrow’s race. Renault’s Fernando Alonso qualified at 7th position.

Force India’s Sutil qualified at 16th position but he will be demoted 3 places down the grid because of this altercation with Red-bull Renault’ s Mark Webber. Sutil affected Webber’s lap time after Sutil completed his qualifying lap and hampered Webber’s lap timing. Sutil admitted that he mistake and he apologized for it. Webber seemed to be unhappy. Fisichella, the other Force India’s driver will start at 18th.

Recently, Google launched Offline Gmail. It allows you to access your Gmail Account without an internet connection. Google had promised that accessing Offline Gmail would give you the same experience as if you are accessing Gmail with an internet connection. Google had set high expectations and guess what, they have surely lived up to it.

Gmail is liked by everyone, however the speed is the only thing that users may find a bit annoying. With the offline mode better known as Flaky Connection Mode by Google, you can open messages, find information and navigate easily at a speed of blinking of an eye.

All you need to do is sync your Gmail account with your system. The most recent messages are sync first and then the remaining ones too. You can synchronize your Gmail to download years of messages to your system. In order to enable your Offline Gmail, you can do so by enabling it by going into the Gmail Labs. Once, you enable it you need to Save Changes and the Gmail will reload again itself. Now, you will see an ‘Offline’ link on top in your Gmail window. Editing your contacts is not available in the Flaky Connection Mode, the addresses of people from your contact list will be auto-filled. If you often use your Gmail for chat, then Offline Gmail will not be of much interest for you.

Step-By-Step Guide To Install Offline Gmail

Offline Gmail allows you to access all your Gmail messages offline without an internet connection. If you would like to send an email, you can compose and hit the Send button and it will be saved in the Outbox. Once an internet connection is available, the Outbox messages will be sent immediately.

To view your messages offline, you need synchronize your system with Gmail. Here is the step-by-step to install offline Gmail.

First of all, you need to Enable ‘Offline Gmail’ in Gmail Labs. This can be done by clicking on Settings and then on Labs.

Once, you enable it you need to Save Changes and the Gmail will reload again itself. Now, you will see an ‘Offline’ link on top in your Gmail window.

Click on the ‘Offline’ Link and then you will see a pop-up dialog box ‘Install offline access for Gmail’ , click on Install as it is needed to access Gmail offline.

Once you allow Google Gears to associate with Offline Gmail, you will see the following screen:

Google Gears will now ask you to about placing Shortcut icons at Desktop, Start Menu and Quick Launch. Once you have made your selection, you will see the following screen:

Once the synchronization is done, you will be able to access your Gmail offline without an internet connection by clicking on Offline on top.

Last November, Microsoft updated Windows Live to receive updates from websites like Twitter, Flicker and Pandora. Recently, Windows Live also announced that users will now be able access updates from SmugMug, Digg and Last.fm.
