Birth Injury, Fetal Distress and Cerebral Palsy Causes
Birth injury
Birth injury is a group of diseases that occurs in newborns after birth and characterized by a variety of causes and ways of expression.
The most common trauma in childbirth is the head and spine of the child. A lot of bones form the skull, While in a newborn this bones are not connected, accordingly, very mobile with respect to each other. Almost any deviation from the normal delivery lead to the fact that the baby’s head passing through the birth canal, undergoes additional mechanical effects of external factors, which leads to mutual displacement of the skull bones. This shift, in turn, causes the displacement of the dura mater, which affects the work of the brain.
Fetal distress
Intrauterine hypoxia or fetal distress ranks first among the causes of stillbirth and infant mortality. Fetal distress is developed as a result of oxygen starvation of organs and tissues of the fetus in utero or during childbirth. This condition may result from clashes periodically compressing the umbilical cord, due to the permanent compression of the head or due to excessively exhausted mother and child.
Cerebral palsy causes
In normal infants the cerebral palsy causes prenatally and unrelated to the events during birth, in most cases, cerebral palsy may develop during pregnancy when the fetus is still in the womb.
Premature birth is also one of the risk factor for cerebral palsy. Children, who are born prematurely, may also have serious breathing problems due to underdeveloped lungs. This may lead to the fact that if the brain does not receive enough oxygen; it can also cause cerebral palsy.
