chagas-treatment

Chagas disease is a deadly parasitic disease.  Research information and study before  2005 or 2006 establishes that Chagas’ is mainly a concern of the inhabitants of the countries of Central America and South America and Mexico. In the past few years, however, has been a  major migration of the population belonging to endemic countries to the United States and Europe. This has led to spread of Chagas disease for populations in US and Europe as well as the disease can spread outside the boundaries of the countries as well.

In Brazil, Chagas disease is the leading cause of deaths related to insects. It is also the leading cause of heart faliure for men 20-40 in Brazil. Kissing bugs that cause Chagas disease are also called “blood suckers, an error or vinchuca ssassin” or “conenose errors”

Symptoms can be varied and many doctors fail to diagnose the disease properly, making it difficult to accurately predict the intensity of the problem. The parasites infect the internal organs and causes little by little the affected organs to enlarge and even rupture. Also increase the intensity of the disease is the factor that, once infected, patients may have no symptoms or death of 10, 20 or even 30 years, and the cause of death actually referred to heart failure or failure of other organs.

It should be noted that 25-30% of those infected suffer irreversible heart problems, neurological, gastrointestinal or resulting in death. Chagas disease threatens over 120 million people in 21 countries, however, this is relatively unknown to the general public.

The symptoms of Chagas disease

Chagas symptoms in the acute phase can only occur in approximately 1% of the cases of Chagas disease, and typically will appear about one to two weeks after infection.
Stage acute symptoms of Chagas disease
Fever
Swelling of the face or around the bite area
Bloated and sore lymph glands and fatigue
In infants or young children severe brain damage leading to death. Symptoms may last 4-8 weeks before disappearing
In the chronic stage of the disease, the symptoms are not visible until 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years after infection
Stage chronic symptoms of Chagas disease:
Heart problems including cardiomyopathy (or an enlarged heart), heart rate changes or disturbances of heart rhythm or cardiac arrest
Esophagus extension or increase the size of the intestines that caused difficulty in swallowing or problem in the intestines relief

Data on Chagas Disease

Chagas disease kills 50,000 people every year. Although it affects 20 million worldwide, is almost unknown to most people in the U.S.. If infected, you may not know who is having Chagas disease. Little by little, can destroy internal organs r, even if nothing happens to you in the acute phase, death can strike during the chronic phase, 10-20 years later.

A significant number of acute and chronic Chagas disease have been reported in domestic dogs in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, South Carolina and Virginia.
We can not give an adequate estimate of dogs or humans in the U.S. actually have the disease due to lack of clarity in reporting
The disease can be carried by the bite of infected triaomine (reduviid, “kiss” or “murderer” errors, or through blood transfusion or transplant through
Infection rates in Texas in kissing bugs reported in the 17-48%. In other states, infection rates are unknown due to lack of evidence
Due to lack of knowledge and indifference, Chagas disease is spreading worldwide. 25 percent of people in Latin America are at high risk of Chagas disease. Children are more vulnerable to this disease. 25% of the population in Latin America is at risk of contracting Chagas disease

In parts of South America, Chagas’ heart disease is the leading cause of death in men under 45 years of age. Blood transfusions in the U.S. must be tested and tested for antibodies. Sadly, many blood banks do not usually take this test
Over 100. 000 Latin American immigrants living in the United States are chronically infected and one of the possible sources of disease transmission is through blood transfusions, the disease is fatal and not erode the health of patients over the years.
Once perceived as endemic in Mexico, South America, Latin America and elsewhere as the U.S. and Europe are now analyzing all donated blood for the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite that is responsible for the disease because of the shift patterns and migration to urban areas of the rural population
infected triatomines that transmit T. cruzi are found in North, Central and South America. Blood banks in cities across the continent are anywhere between 3.0 and 53.0% on T. revalence cruzi infected blood than other diseases such as hepatitis infamous B, C, and HIV infection

Causes of Chagas Disease

1. It is transmitted by the bite of a bloodsucking inscect, also known as the Reduviid, triatomine bugs or “kissing bugs” of an inch in size which makes the stool on the skin of his victim after drinking the blood of a unsuspecting person or animal. The insect bite pain does not mean, however, Lee can make the itching skin area. Where the person or animal scratches the bite area, feces enter the skin and deposits a parasite that can cause problems for the victim
2. Chagas disease can be spread through organ transplants or blood transfusions. At least ten countries in the Third World, the blood test is required when the law. The United States still does not screen blood or organs for detection of Chagas disease. There are opinions that the risk of contracting Chagas from blood transfusion is more in urban than rural places. A 1994 study that was made for Chagas disease found that blood transfusions pose a greater risk for Chagas disease and the risk of diseases such as AIDS or HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, syphilis etc
3. The ‘buy kiss’ can also deposit faeces in the eyes of a person causing an infection
4. Raw foods containing the kissing bug feces can also be a form of transmission of this disease
5. Mothers can also transmit Chagas’ disease during pregnancy. This disease is also seen in the case of mothers who breastfeed. Bleeding nipples and milk from the mother even has been documented to have spread the parasite.
