Charge Slips and Credit Card Usage While Shopping
Make sure you check the charge slips while shopping with a credit card. Here are tips for credit card shopping smartly:
- Before using a credit card, make sure you have signed on the signature panel on the back of your card with a non-erasable pen.
- Also make sure that the amount spent is within the credit limit sanctioned to you by the credit card company.
- Always protect your credit card, that is, whenever you give it to the billing counter, be present when the card is being swiped. Once the transaction is approved, you will get a charge slip. Make sure that your name, date of transaction, card number and most importantly, the amount billed is correct. Find out all of these before signing the charge slip.
- At cerain shopping establishment, you may be required to sign on the credit card bill also apart from the charge slip . You must always keep the charge slip t8ill the transaction is reflected in your credit card statement. Make sure that the amount on the credit card statement is the same as that on the charge slip.
- Discrepancy in your credit card account immediately be made known to the bank. Remember to take your credit card back as soon as you complete the transaction. Sign only one charge slip for every transaction. If there is any mistake on the charge slip, do not sign and ensure that the shopkeeper destroys the charge slip in your presence.
