Cockpit Voice Recorder Found, Black Box Still Missing

The Cockpit voice recorder, which should help investigators understand what went wrong after Air India Express flight IX 812 landed at Bajpe airport in Mangalore, has been recovered by authorities amid the debris of the crash site. The recorder records conversations in the cockpit between the pilot and Air Traffic Control (ATC)
The Black Box or the Flight data recorder (FDR), which is crucial evidence is still missing. Unlike popular perception, the Black Box is not painted black but with heat resistant bright orange paint. The unit is usually mounted in the aircraft’s tail section.
The Mangalore Air Crash is actually worst air disaster in India in the last 10 years. 150 people were dead when the Mangalore bound Boeing 737-800 flight IX-812 from Dubai overshot the runway and burst into flames at the Bajpe airport. Only 8 people managed to survive.
