Grammy for A R Rahman, the Oscar Winner

A R Rahman has won 2 Grammy Awards at Los Angeles for Slumdog Millionaire. The double Oscar winner, Rahman bagged the first Grammy of the pre-show at the Staples Center in the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture category before his “Jai Ho” won in the best motion picture song category moments later.
“This is insane, god is great again,” Rahman said as he accepted his second award before a VIP audience.
Rahman’s rivals in the soundtrack category included Steve Jordan for “Cadillac Records,” Quentin Tarantino for “Inglourious Basterds”, and the producers of “Twilight” and “True Blood.”
In the best song category Rahman’s defeated rivals who included Bruce Springsteen for his song “The Wrestler”, from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name. The music director shared the Grammy award for the best motion picture song “Jai ho” with veteran lyricist Gulzar and Tanvi who wrote the Spanish lyrics for Jai Ho
A R Rahman’s awards include 2 Oscar Academy Awards, 2 Grammy Awards, 1 BAFTA, 1 Golden Globe, 4 National Awards and 25 Filmfare Awards
