Exhaustion and fatigue in the legs is experienced by all of us quite commonly at some point of time or the other. It could be due to long and tiresome work, physical strain or simply that long walk back home. We usually treat our tired legs by resting for a while but if it continues for long and is disabling and preventing us from taking another step then we might want to try out some pain killers or a home remedy. In any case, a good home remedy is always very effective, simple and also free of any side effects. Let us discuss some good remedies for tired legs.

One of the best and most effective remedy is submerging our legs in hot water with some salt in it. The hot water here doesn’t mean very hot water but a little hot than warm water would do. This method increases the blood circulation and relieves tiredness and thus the pain. Massaging the legs with some warm oil is also a very good remedy. Massaging relaxes the muscles and aids in proper blood circulation. Usually sesame oil is best for massaging and it also has properties that warm up the skin and the muscles which is very relaxing.

While lying down on the bed is the easiest remedy, you must make sure that you rest your legs on a soft and elevated pillow. This elevation of the legs from the rest of the body relaxes the leg muscles. Ice packs also work very well in relieving the tension in the muscles.

If you are experiencing fatigue in your legs quite frequently, you must understand that you diet needs some good amounts of potassium and minerals. Foods rich in potassium like bananas help in strengthening the muscles and preventing muscle cramps. Along with potassium, diet rich in calcium, protein and Vitamin E helps in protecting and building the muscles and the bones. Eating lots of roughage enhances general health and exercising daily is a very effective way to toughen our bodies and strengthen the immune system. Try to avoid junk food, alcohol and other fatty foods that harm our general health.
