Gmail, the most famous email service provider, which has been constantly reinventing itself, has made sure that people who email do not goof up or make errors.  Here are some ways you can avoid  Gmail mistakes and goof-ups

  • Sending mails to unintended recipients: Google has included an ‘error free’ tool that catches misdirected Gmail messages before they are fired off by users of the Gmail service. Known as ‘Got the wrong Bob?’ it is made to warn people, if it looks like they are about to send a Gmail service to an unintended recipient. To make it simple, this feature identifies groups of people that a Gmail user sends messages habitually, and alerts the sender if he or she deviates from the pattern. This new feature can be turned on by enabling this feature in the Gmail settings

  • Forgetting some recipients: Do you feel that you have left someone important after you have sent a Gmail to your ten friends? Well, from now on, you don’t have to worry about the eleventh one, because the feature ‘Don’t forget Bob’ from Gmail Labs automatically suggests more recipients so that you do not goof up. Once enabled, the Google labs feature will give the user a list of recipients while composing a message, based on the contacts that he or she might use, for a group that they often mail to.

  • Not writing your Gmail in the right frame of mind: When we are down with two bottles of vodka, we may not be in the right senses while writing an email. This feature, known as Google’s ‘Mail Goggles’ will not us regret what we wrote last night. You may have to solve a few easy math problems before hitting the ‘send’ button. If your logical skills are right, Google is sure that you are in a good frame of mind and are aware of what you’ve written. To activate Goggles, click on ‘settings’ link at the top of the Gmail page and go to the ‘Labs’ section.

  • Undo Send: Gmail Labs feature has ‘Undo Send’ feature that prevents sending of an email message for five seconds, in order to give  Gmail users time to change their minds. All you need to do is go to Settings and turn on ‘Undo Send’, and you will see a new ‘undo’ link on every sent email confirmation. Understand that you will not get back the message that has already been sent, however the Gmail ‘Undo Send’ feature will hold the message for five seconds to give you time for seconds thoughts.
