How to be the Best in B-school
How do I be the best in a business school? Check out tips to be the best and ace in a b-school
Work towards creating an image — a style for yourself. Remember, this is not junior college where you can walk in wearing cool, funky Tshirts and torn jeans. The fact that you want to take admission in a B-school shows that you have a plan in life. Make sure you dress thoughtfully, its good practice for the future too.
Get into the deadline groove — they will haunt you from day one. A lot of students are enthusiastic at the beginning of the course, but start taking it easy after a few months. Deadlines have the tendency to make time contract. The only way to deal with them is to concentrate on the given assignment. Once you have undeterred focus, you’ll find yourself wanting to stretch time. No point trying to run after professors to get them to extend deadlines. They’re stubborn lot and are not likely to oblige. If anything, you’ll only come back having spoilt. So stop taking short cuts and get to work.
Communicate with others:Unless you communicate, you cannot hope to get to know others in your environment. Take active interest in knowing your peers — it is also a great way to cope with the stress out there. All of us need friends to lean on to. And for God’s sake, don’t make friends to get your work done. Suckers are easily identifiable. You’re going to lose all the friends you ever had when the real motive is
Take the Initiative: You want to be different from the rest of the gang; you will have to take the initiative. Come up with project ideas, volunteer for different activities and don’t hesitate to become a team leader. It is a great way to challenge a weak self-esteem. Don’t worry about getting unpopular with the students. You need to fend for yourself, and for all you know, you might just end up inspiring them! And most importantly, your professors will surely be impressed by your enthusiasm.
Win professors over: You need recommendation letters, don’t you? Being in the faculty’s good books is not so easy. They can see through fake compliments and can sense liars. So handle them with care and instead of strategizing to win them over, just be natural and be good with them Let your work speak for yourself, do not bunk classes and give them a smile.
Be Ready to Help: Competition is fine, but that does not mean you try to belittle or do underhanded tactics. That is insecurity at its worst. Help fellow students, share information because it can work good for both the parties.
Take part in extracurricular activities: They will refresh you to study better, get you a fan following which will include professors and yes, you will leave an impression.
