I Got a Credit Card Without Applying for It
What do I do if I get a credit card without even applying for it?
It is illegal for banks to send unsolicited credit cards or debit cards. The written consent of the applicant is needed before issuing a credit card. If an unsolicited card is issued and activated, the card-issuing bank has not only to reverse the charges, but also pay compensation or penalty to the recipient that can be twice the value of the charges reversed. Any loss arising out of misuse of such unsolicited cards is the responsibility of the bank or the credit card user.
