Itchy ankles – Causes, symptoms and Treatment
Itchy ankles can be defined as a sensation which causes a person to scratch his ankle’s skin. Itchy ankles can get serious at times so proper care should be taken of your ankle.
Causes for Itchy ankles
There are various causes of itchy ankles
- One of the major causes is dry skin.
- Itchy ankles are also the result of heart disease, kidney problems or hypothyroidism.
- It may be due an old infection in ankle.
- Might be due to diabetes, where itching occurs at night.
- Allergic reactions
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
Symptoms of Itchy ankles
Some of the symptoms of itchy ankles may be ankle swelling, ankle numbness, ankle rash.
Treatment for Itchy ankles
For mild treatment of itchy ankles antihistamine pills are used. For eczema and psoriasis steroid hormones are used.
Sometimes hot water, ice and Epsom salts are used to treat Itchy ankles.
