About 26 civilians are said to be killed in Kingston, Jamacia as the police stormed a drug gangster’s den and violence spread to surrounding regions, local media reported on Tuesday. It is reported that the death count will go up to 30 including 3 members of the security forces, according to the information by the Jamaica Constabular Force. 25 people have been injured and more than 200 arrested.
The clashes actually rose when military and police officials tried to arrest accused drug kingpin Christopher “Dudus” Coke, who is one of the most wanted persons in the US, for criminal charges. He was believed to be hiding in the Tivoli Gardens neighborhood of the capital,where clashes happened in full swing. The police reportedly came under fire in parts of West Kingston on Sunday, and a police station was on fire after being abandoned by besieged officers who had exhausted their ammunition
