The online password that we use to access our accounts can be pretty vulnerable and keep the door wide open to hackers and miscreants, if we are not careful enough. According to a report released last year in Washington, one out of every thirteen people lost their funds because of online scam that involved password leak.
Identity theft involves getting access to a person’s password online and taking charge of his or her private information online and even financial transactions. So you can imagine how serious a matter it is to use the right ‘unbreakable’ password and protect it well enough.
According to the survey conducted by whatsmypass.com recently, the worst password used by most of the internet users is “123456″ followed by “password” in the second place.
Here is a list of the Top 500 passwords which people commonly use, the world over:

How do I protect my online password? How do I protect my online identity? Use the following steps to protect your password and keep your password safe from potential identity thefts:
1. Do not write things that are close to you as a password. People who are close to you know the name of your mate, your favorite dish, your favorite word, your lucky number etc. So. it is better that you refrain from using words and numbers that you know, people around you are familiar with. It is possible that anyone may love to poke in your mails and extract vital information.
2.Also make sure that you are not using your same password and id across different sites. Avoid using common information especially for financial or bank sites. Even try not to use same login password for card accounts.
3.Passwords which are shorter in length can be hacked easily. To enhance the strength of your password try and use longer passwords. Use alphanumerical, upper and lower case characters, shuffled letters and numbers, etc in your password field. This makes it difficult for the hacker to hack your password. Include symbols in your login passwords if the site allows you to use symbols in your password. Never using simple passwords like 123456 or 22222222.
4.You can even employ honest software to safeguard your passwords. These software remember your passwords and login ids. And whenever you visit that site again, your software will automatically enter your details with your permission and complete the login formalities. One such password software is Password Manager.
