Shimit Amin’s Rocketsingh: Sales of the Year has got to be one of the most refreshing films in the last two years. Jaideep Sahni, one of the best script writers comes up with a very realistic and contemporary story that finds echo with the working class. Somehow, this script writer has always manages to hold the mirror to Bollywood and show reality in a better escape from those artificial candy floss romances and make believed comedies. Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year salutes entepreneurship that is a dream of the youth in India.

Story of Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year:
Harpeet Singh Bedi, a lanky Sardar dreams of taking up selling as a profession much to the amazement of his friends. He does not believe in MBA and other razzmatazz, he believes in playing the field. As he says “numbers kam hain, dimaag nahin” Armed with enthusiasm as his weapon, he joins AIS company which sells assembled computers. However, he comes to know that there are dirty games to play in this field, especially when he has to bribe rich clients. He refuses to do so and is admonished by his superior Puri(Manish Choudhary)
Soon, he is asked to not do any field sales but do them from his work station. Other workers are angry at him because he has doubled their sales targets. In this thankless place, where all he gets are taunts and scorns, Harpeet Singh gets a private contract for graphic cards from Sherena(Shazahn Padamsee). He accepts and buys them for discount from a salesman at Lamington(popular computer lane in Mumbai where you get computer parts at discounts). Thus strikes a brainwave in him to start his own business called RocketSales Corp. He wins the confidence of a few trusted friends in the office and starts a fly-by-night operation of selling and servicing computers from the office itself! Soon, RocketSales Corp becomes a huge force to reckon with and rivals AYS too. But RocketSales do not get far and their ‘johl’ is found out. Watch the movie to know what happens next
Plus points of Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year:
1. An awesome script that will connect with many people who work and dream of having their own business
2. Good performance by the entire cast
Minus points
1. The first half goes at a turtle’s pace and we wish some scenes were removed from the film like Ranbir Kapoor practicising in the mirror, or him massaging his grand father Prem Chopra’ shoulders
2. Weak romance
3. The change of heart in the end is not so convincing.

Best scenes of Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year:
1. Ranbir Kapoor and Puri speaking to each other on the phone in the same office
2. The terrace scenes where the foursome brainstorm for ideas

Best performances in Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year
By now it is visible that Ranbir Kapoor has a midas touch and seems to know what will work and what will not in Bollywood. He pitches in an understated performance and does very well. The ensemble cast is brilliant particularly, D Santosh as Giri, a computer assembler who watches sleazy movies at night and sleeps in the office, in the morning; Naveen Kaushik as the sales shark, Mukesh Bhatt as the enterprising people and Gauhar Khan as the ambitious receptionist. Shazahn company has not much to do ; in fact people will remember her legs more than her expressions in the film.

Last lines on Rocket Singh:Salesman of the Year:
Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is among the best movies of 2009. It has the one of the best script seen in the past few years. If the movie had a tighter first half, it would have been perfect. Still, it is a sincere attempt and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year will be relished by people who love intelligent cinema.
