Search Engines and Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization is here to stay and it is the best way for marketing and advertising your online business, because it works where the action is: search engines. If you check Google Analytics to see how your site has been faring, you will usually see that 80-90 percent of online traffic comes purely through organic search (Read Google and Yahoo Search). You CANNOT neglect the power of search engine optimization to induce search engine traffic to come to your site or blog.
Every search engine works differently. A condition laid down by a certain search engine will be different from the other one. For instance, a 300 page content may rank well for a certain search engine but may not do as well for a search engine that wants content as long as 750 words for being a top-ranking page. Also a door-way page, if optimized properly may enjoy a high rank compared to the home page.
It is not necessary that people will arrive at your website through the home page.People submit their content to various search engines for a fee so that maximum exposure is gained and a high level of traffic is attained. Some of these websites even command a high fee. Well, you ought to be careful in this regard, because most of the websites are merely fishing for your email address so that they can spam your inbox. We would say that blatant submission to a lot of search engines is not recommended because even if they are genuine, they are not really helpful. At the most, your website will be lying along with millions of others in the last few pages of that particular search engine. Bulk submission does not really mean that your website or content is optimized and hence it is of no use in search engine optimization.
There is another misconception in search engine optimization. Meta tags are portrayed as a one-stop solution to all problems. There are in fact, only few search engines that read meta tags. The ones that do pay scant relevance to meta tags when it comes to evaluating page ranks. Of course, making use of keywords in the title and meta tags is helpful, but it is not really everything that is needed in search engine optimization.
Content and using quality linking is a major booster to search engine ranking assuring you of success in Search Engine Optimization. Your website should have a link from any of the famous article directories or websites that deal in affiliated or relevant fields. Search engines will easily index and propel your website or blog in the first two results page of a search engine thanks to useful, relevant content and quality linking.
