Social Networking Sites, Friends and fake profiles
There are some social networking myths that need to be cleared. A lot of people are of the opinion that social networking users like the ones in Orkut and Facebook are interested in befriending strangers or creating ‘fake friends’ or even ‘fake profiles’. According to the Anderson Analysis, 45 percent of social networking sites users’ connect only to family, friends and 18 percent of the people only connect to people they have met at least once in person. So, you can safely say that two in every three people using social networking sites connect only to people they know. There is only 10 percent population who will make use of social networking sites to befriend a rank stranger.
Another theory that is debunked is the fact that people use social networking sites at work. The study reveals that 15 percent of social networkers are logging to these sites from work.
Why do people do not use social networking sites: Eat your heart out, though you think lack of technological awareness forbade from online social networking, the real reasons are 1. No Time .2 Belief that social networking sites are not safe and 3. They are just stupid.
