Tips to Study MBA while Working
It can be tough for working professionals to study MBA while they are doing their job. Doing part-time MBA is a good option when you have to divide time between your MBA course and job. Here are some tips
1. Location: When you are choosing a B-school, make sure that you are clear about the location where you are studying. Do not work in one end of the town and study in the other. You can imagine how stressful traveling can be.
2. Make a time-table: You tend to slog at work and need to chill out, watch a movie during your week-end. So how can you do your MBA studies; it seems easier said than done, when weekend strikes. But then you have to figure out a way, make a time-table to manage your time. Study at least an hour everyday and add more hours to your study during the weekend.
3. Make sure you get the notes: If you miss out on an MBA class or two, make sure you catch up on the notes. You can ask your MBA institute to give a DVD or VCD of the lecture if possible.
4. Do not change your job: Please do not change your job in the middle of your MBA course. You will find yourself making more adjustments than you can handle. Also in a new job, you will be expected to come on time and leave when work is over. You cannot tell them that you need to study for MBA from day one, so that you can get leave from your job early. So think with your head and possibly, avoid quitting your job unless it is absolutely needed. Wait till you get a degree in your hand.
5. You are lucky if you have a good boss: Keep your boss in the loop, just so that he can give you some grace time to let you leave early. And if s/he is the nice kind, you might manage to get a few days / weeks of study leave. So whenever you have too many college assignments to deliver, make sure you tactfully tell your boss about.
6. Focus on your MBA goal:There might be days when you want to run away from your MBA assignments and quit your job, but don’t lose focus of your goal. Keep reminding yourself that your brand worth is going to hike after you clear your exams and that this is your age to slog it out. So here’s to a bright future!
