Women’s Day Has A ‘Cheap’ Meaning

Women’s Day on March 8 will talk about women’s achievements and their landmark triumphs. Newspapers and media are n full swing commercializing Women’s day and business are giving huge amounts of discounts and sales on women’s products and accessories. But do we really need this? Should women’s day be celebrated in this manner? It is clear that it is we who have created this divide among men and women when it is not required. So women’s day really has no meaning because most of it is abused.
India still has a high amount of female foeticide cases, domestic violence and dowry deaths. If we have Kiran Bedi, Sania Mirza and Katrina Kaif on one side, we also have thousands of women who cannot even have one square meal a day properly, not to mention the oppression and abuse they have to do with.
So, let us really help women who are tortured and need help, rather than announcing women’s products available at cheap prices.
